Southwest Fox Still Going Strong

Macrosoft is extremely pleased to once again be a Gold Sponsor for Southwest Fox 2019. This annual conference brings together leading-edge Visual FoxPro development thinking, excellent presentations and great networking opportunities.

This year we celebrate “Sweet 16” as this is the 16th annual Southwest Fox conference and the 10th being held in the SanTan Elegante Conference Center in Gilbert, Arizona. Worldwide, Southwest Fox has become the leading source of information and idea sharing in the Fox Family. This is not only a place to learn new techniques, Southwest Fox is a great place to network with fellow developers.  Attendees came from 27 different States and 12 different countries around the globe.

Our program kicked off with an informative but fun Keynote presentation by Kevin Ragsdale of Zoom Geeks. He led us collectively through the “Fox Family” a Whimsical Celebration.

CodeMorph – Automated VFP Code Conversion Suite

Kevin starting with a joke any developer can appreciate

A spouse sends her FoxPro Programmer on an errand, saying “please run to the store and buy a gallon of milk, and if they have eggs get 12”. Being a developer, he uses boolean condition and of course returns with 12 gallons of milk.

This was just one of many jokes and puns as we enjoyed during a look back on the progression of FoxPro, Visual FoxPro and our current Fox Family.

Playing the role of Orpah Book Club, Kevin highlighted the five FoxPro books that impacted his life as a FoxPro developer with many in the audience agreeing with his picks.

  1. Hackers guide to Visual FoxPro three
  2. 1001 things you wanted to know about Visual FoxPro
  3. Make a fox 1002 things you wanted to know about it
  4. Fox tails behind the scenes at fox software
  5. Internet applications with Visual FoxPro 6.0

This was an excellent kick off with a walk down memory lane bringing many smiles as well as a forward-looking approach to how this community will continue to evolve.

User Screens: Before & After VFP to .NET Conversion

Keeping the legacy screens after a VFP to .NET is not advised or possible due to many reasons. Download Whitepaper to compare and learn more on the screens our team generates while converting Visual FoxPro Applications to the .NET platform.
